My background is environmental engineering and agroecological research. I did my doctoral research on agroecological cropping systems and wrote my thesis on their environmental and social impacts. My research aimed at enabling farmers to transition to regenerative and agroecological cropping systems. I wanted to fill the gaps (technological and financial) that I found during my research that were hindering the mainstreaming of agroecological systems. That is why when I met my co-founders in an online fellowship (EIT Food Innovators Fellowship), my idea was to build a decision support system for farmers to enable them transition to regenerative agriculture. I found complementing competences in my future co-founders which ultimately led us to found CinSOIL. Previously, I have led research projects in the fields of diversified farming, AI-based solutions in agriculture, digital decision support systems, and soil health education at the Hamburg University of Technology. Most recently, I was on the expert panel for the FAO’s State of the Food and Agriculture 2023 report.
